1. Main Parts

Basic Format:

Author(s). (Year, Month Day). Title of the article. Title of Newspaper, pages. URL (if available)

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Author(s): List the author's last name followed by their initials. If there are multiple authors, list them in the order they appear in the article, separated by commas and using an ampersand (&) before the last author.

  2. Publication Date: Include the year followed by the month and day of publication in parentheses, followed by a period.

  3. Title of the Article: The title should be in sentence case (only the first word, proper nouns, and the first word after a colon or dash are capitalized). The title is not italicized or placed in quotation marks.

  4. Title of Newspaper: The newspaper name should be in title case and italicized.

  5. Page Numbers: If the article is from a print newspaper, include the page numbers. Use "p." or "pp." before the page numbers for single and multiple pages, respectively.

  6. URL: If the article was accessed online and there is a stable URL, include this at the end of the citation. URLs should be live if the article is to be accessed digitally.
